its about time i typed something other than assignments and googling nonsense out of boredome :)
had a busy weekend this week, played in two seperate bands on saturday and sunday, both at the Kuching Waterfront.
the first was an event called HELLO!Kuching organized by a funky group of dudes which can be found at ilovekuching.com
played in a band called funkarama which is made up mostly by my college mates, played songs from sheila majid, estrella, alter bridge and FERGIE...yes....G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S! muahahaha.
was a fun event although we were caught in the middle of a thunder storm, but as they say, the show must go on.
and another fun factor was that it was, what i believe to be the first time that my mom ever saw me on stage.
*sob*
hahaha.
on sunday night we played in front of an older crowd that were glued to their seats, most of them waiting for the bands to be over and done with so they could commence their little karoeke competition that was held at the same venue. big sux to all you's who didnt even lift a finger to applaud the hard working bands such as Libretto ( WHO KICKED ASS BIG TIME!, managed to grab their EP titled DISC:LOSURE which is fucking awesome!) and Guru who showed bucket loads of energy on stage.
my band for the night was named Rona, a local sarawak malay slang meaning "colour" which comprised of Azrena on vocals, Azmil on 2nd guitar, Azri on drums, A-a on bass, and me with the flamethrower :). notice how all the other band members name starts with the letter "A"..i feel so misplaced hahaha.
we played songs such as, ternyata - estrella (again), Hilang by Garasi, an indonesian ballad by Ari Lasso & Bunga Cita Lestari(donno how to speelll haha) which i have no idea what the song title is. and Wild world by Cat Stevens/Mr Big!
noticed how i failed to mention bands such as TOOL, A perfect circle, sepultura etc............
thats probably the first time when the closest thing i played to a heavy song is one by Cat Stevens. lol.
will get pics up once i get them!
AS for my own band, redqueen.....well...................its still dormant for now, waiting to be revived.
hopefully the new vocalist can kick ass and were still searching for a temporary replacement on drums for wak who is in K.L for now. The good news is, original band member, Mark has agreed to make a comeback on bass, now that hes back in kuching!
what weve planed for redqueen so far:
A QUALITY recording for dear departed and mirrorwall.
recording of a few new songs namely 'aeroplanes'.
also working on some instrumental stuff and dont be suprised if some of the poetry here end up reincarnated as songs.
p/s: If you like Radiohead, Mogwai, Sigur Ross, Explosions in the sky, YOU MUST check out libretto, they can be found here. Dont be fooled by the low quality of some of their older recordings posted on the site. The tracks on their DISC:LOSURE EP is pure CLASS.
