Reasons to Smoke

Smoking gets a lot of bad press. "It's addictive," people claim. "The advertisements target young people," others say. "Second hand smoke is a major killer in our country," still others whine. But no one discusses the positive affects of smoking on society. I hereby offer the following reasons why smoking is good, and why people should not dismiss it so easily as a bad habit:

  1. Smoking helps people relax. And couldn't we all use a little help relaxing these days?
  2. Smoking promotes breaks in the workplace. People need to take breaks because this addiction has biological affects.
  3. Smoking promotes going outside. In an age when everything can be done while sitting at a desk, staring at a monitor, and making small hand and finger movements, going outside is highly beneficial. It relaxes the eyes by looking at distant objects and letting light in, the legs get some movement from the walk outside, and between puffs, fresh air can be inhaled.
  4. Smoking allows people to think without looking like they are doing nothing. Consider a smoker and a nonsmoker standing on a street corner doing nothing. Society gives permission to the smoker to stand around, while the nonsmoker, (perhaps deep in thought) is viewed as loitering or wasting time.
  5. Smokers can better survive fires. Scientists have shown that because smokers have an increased tolerance to smoke, they are more probable to survive plane crashes and building fires than nonsmokers.

So the next time you are considering not smoking or even quitting, be sure to investigate both sides of the issue. And always think for yourself.

grabbed from here.

next we shall explore why it is good to drive at speeds above 120 km/h

OK, THIS IS IN NO WAY SOLICITING OR ENCOURAGING SMOKING, ESPECIALLY AMONG MINORS, IF POSSIBLE DO STAY AWAY FROM CIGGARETTES. THANK YOU PLEASE COME AGAIN! :D

it's refreshing to hear something different. i don't smoke to start things off but i don't consider those who smoke as a nuisance either.

i guess its just a question of how you bring yourself really; a responsible smoker will never stub out his cigarette on the floor when there's an ashtray nearby.
